Spring/Summer 2018 Ready to Wear – Alexander McQueen

We love the latest collection from Alexander McQueen – it features lots of our favourite fabrics and the styles are truly feminine. Ruffles, frills, layers, lace, spots, tulle…just the sort of look we love!

Pantone’s Colour of the year for 2017

It’s time to talk about the shade chosen as Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017. 15-0343 is called ‘Greenery’ and is a fresh, bright Spring green, with slight tones of yellow. Symbolising the lushness of the great outdoors, Greenery is a refreshing, revitalizing, natural colour. Take a look below for a selection of our fabrics that capture the essence of Greenery. We’ve also included some colour palettes of pairings from neutrals to brights, and pastels. Pantone’s choice for 2017 is bound to inspire!

Layers and layers and layers of tulle! July 2017

The catwalks are alive with a wash of colour in the form of beautiful, semi-sheer tulle dresses, with big, sweeping, romantic skirts and structured bodices. Here’s a few of our favourite dresses from recent shows.

We have a fine collection of tulles, from soft to stiff, veiling tulles, transparent illusion tulles and many more. We’ve got a wide range of colour available, from soft blush pink to cerise pink, and of course all the usual shades you would expect such as black, white and ivory. We have sparkle tulles and foil tulles; we even have formaldehyde free options available. View the collection by clicking here.

Bridal Trends for 2017

3D flowers are still immensely popular this season as well as embellishments in general. Embroidered lace is a definite yes and brides are steering away from plain and understated in favour of more personal, unqiue pieces. Large floral lace designs are also hot news as brides look for something a little more unusual to make their dress stand out.

3D embellishments, large floral lace & embroidered lace – all on trend for S/S 17

Next up is colours – while white and Ivory obviously remain firm favourites, blush pink, soft blues and mint greens are also making waves, as brides continually search for something extra special and eye catching.

  Something Blue! And Blush…..and mint!

Finally, brides are turning back the clock and in terms of style, 70s boho chic is huge again, as are 20s style capes. This year’s bride is definitely shunning tradtition in favour of a truly unqiue, bespoke gown.

Capes are big news this season….as it’s the 70s look, and boho chic.

What’s new in bridesmaid for SS17? Well, it’s all about tea length tulle dresses, beautiful, bold brights and dress combos designed to help the maid of honour stand out from the crowd (without outdoing the bride, of course!).

Tea length tulle dresses, colourful brights and something different for the maid of honour.

Cara Watch – 10.08.16

Is there a model out there who is more in demand that Cara Delevingne at the moment? No, we didn’t think so either! All eyes are always on this fashionista, especially as she makes the transition from model to actress and starts appearing on the red carpet for her movie premieres. We absolutely love Cara’s style, and what Cara seems to love is lace. Who are we to argue with this fashion queen? Here are some of our favourite Cara looks from recent events and shows.

The Duchess of Cambridge: Her greatest hits – 16.06.16

Since Princess Diana, there hasn’t been someone who was capable of setting trends, turning heads and wowing the fashion crowds effortlessly……until Catherine Middleton, that is. Of course, she is now better known as The Duchess of Cambridge, future Queen and mother to third in line to the throne. She champions British Designers and often wears a dress that will then sell out worldwide within 24 hours. Kate is stylish, chic and adventurous with her fashion, but she also knows what suits her and tends to stick with what she knows. What could be more elegant and timeless than lace? This is one fabric that is definitely fit for a (future) queen. Here are our favourite looks.

Our most favourite recent look however, has to be this stunning ensemble which she wore recently for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. Ivory and nude colours are definitely on-trend this season, but then Kate doesn’t follow the trends – she sets them.

Trend Alert: Rainbow Bridesmaids – 6th April 2016

Long gone are the days when bridemaids were forced into the most unflattering dress style and colour available (one shade does not suit all), in an effort to ensure they didn’t outshine the bride. These days, it’s all about gorgeous bridemaids dresses that enhance and compliment the bride, creating a stunning bridal party. The latest trend consists of pastels in different shades. The bridemaid colour does not have to be the same colour for all, but a complimetary palette that creates a soft, dreamy, look.

We have to say that this new trend is very easy on the eyes and it gives each bridesmaid the chance to select a colour that really suits them. Again, not sticking to one dress style offers a shape that will suit each bridesmaid. Even though the colours and styles are different, it still works. And it works really well.

Floaty, soft and lightweight fabrics seem to be heavily favoured. There’s a lot of versatility to be had when you select fabrics such as chiffons and jersey.

Here are some of our gorgeous chiffons, all available in that sought after perfect pastel palette.
